Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you create an account we collect your email address and a username you choose. You may optionally provide a display name, bio, avatar photo, website URL, and links to other social profiles (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube). The lists, items, notes, and photos you add to lists are stored on our servers. We also store social interactions you take — likes, repicks, follows, and comments.

How we use it

Your email address is used solely for authentication (we send a one-time code when you sign in) and for transactional notifications you opt into. We do not send marketing email. Your public profile and public lists are visible to anyone on the internet. Unlisted lists are accessible only to people with the direct link. Private lists are visible only to you.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate Topicks:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage. Your data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure.
• TMDB — movie and TV show metadata (titles, posters). Searches you perform in the media picker are sent to TMDB's API.
• Spotify — music metadata (tracks, albums, artwork). Music searches are sent to Spotify's API.
• OpenLibrary — book metadata. Book searches are sent to OpenLibrary's API.
• Nominatim / OpenStreetMap — location data for destination searches. Queries are sent anonymously.
• Google Places — business location data (restaurants, venues). Business searches are sent to Google's API.
• Anthropic — AI-generated item suggestions. List title and existing items are sent to Anthropic's API when you request suggestions.

We do not sell your data to any third party.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in. No third-party tracking or advertising cookies are set.

Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, lists, items, photos, comments, and likes are removed. Some residual data (for example, your repicks that other users have built upon) may be retained in anonymised or attributed form to preserve the integrity of others' content.

Your rights

You can edit your profile, change your username, and delete individual lists and items at any time. You can delete your account from Settings → Danger zone, which removes your account and associated data. To request a copy of your data or raise a privacy concern, email us at the address below.
